Ban Tian Yao is a rare cultivar, originated and still cultivated from Shui Lian Dong 水帘洞 "Water Curtain Cave".

This Ban Tian Yao "Half Way Sky" is a True Zheng Yan cliff tea. This particular harvest is from a small garden growing beside a cave very close to the central region of San Keng Liang Jian. The leaves are much smaller and finer compared to other bigger leaf cultivars like Beidou and Fo Shou. The finished tea is given a dark traditional roast and is now settling into a very fluffy and glutinous like texture when brewed with concentration. The Yan Yun "岩韵“ mineral finish  and has a pleasant warm energy. 

**Aged traditional dark roasts can be very dim-sum tea-like. More deep and brown flavors of coffee and Expresso, which is one-side or type of Wuyi Cliff Oolong flavor tasting profiles. Trading off fragrance and viability for stability.
