The Tea Wanderer
Tie Luo Han 1990's
Tie Luo Han 1990's
A rare find of a Tie Luo Han ”陈年铁罗汉“ from the 1990's.
Tie Luo Han are know to be powerful Yan Chas with a strong Qi-like character when newly crafted. In the past, it was the most popular and famed varietal, being one of the four famed Ming Cong "四大名丛“ varietals. There is a single thousand year old Tie Luo Han tea tree growing in the Gui Dong "Ghost Cave" of the Hui Yuan area. The age of the surviving mother tea tree can tell us that this varietal has been around for a long time. It was only until recently it got overshadowed by popular varietals such as Shui Xian and Rou Gui.
Nearing 30 years, time has aged and smoothed it beautifully into a very silky and velvety tea with deep notes of medicinal herbs.
I thought this would be interesting to make available to everyone to try and see how Yan Chas can age and transform over time.
**Note: This is a Yan Cha "Rock/Cliff Tea" further from the central region of San Keng Liang Jian but it is still part and within the ecological reserve.
