A keepsake tea to share with the Yancha Connoisseurs.
According to the tea lore, the 正太阳, Zheng Tai Yang aka "True Yang" , an early bygone rare Wuyi Yancha ancestral varietal was found in a circular formation similar to the Ying Yang formation in the Ghost Cave of the ecological reserve. Hence, it's given name referencing the inner black dot in the Ying & Yang trigram formation (yes, there is a True Yin varietal too but might be extinct by now).
The trees were uprooted from the ecological reserve in 2023. This was the last harvest from those tea trees. It is uncertain if this varietal is still in existence. I was fortunate enough to reserve a scant amount of it to share with everyone here - reminiscing the flavors of lost tea varietals.
Tasting notes: Not as fragrant as the Rou Gui "Cassia Bark" or as smooth as a Shui Xian varietals. It borders on the more mellow-side of a Shui Jin Gui "Golden Water Tortoise" cultivar side . Faint notes of toasted coconut with a expansive minerally finish with a slightly "cooling sensation". I find it difficult to describe the flavor profile. Overall, a settled Yancha more on the mellow side. Try it and tell me your thoughts.
Brewing reccomendations 4 -8 grams in a small tea vessel of 120ml. Boiling hot water. Adjust steeping time to your preference. The more grams you use the shorter the steeps are.
